Clean Air COMPASS
A collaborative, community-informed initiative to develop a customizable open-source data management system for air quality measurement data.
Air quality
99% of the world breathes unhealthy air, causing 1 in 8 premature deaths. Vulnerable populations face magnified risks from this leading global health threat.
Open-source
A customizable open-source data management system helps manage costs, reduce redundancy and foster collaboration, empowering global air quality monitoring efforts.
Community-informed
A global community of practice is fostering shared learning. By pooling expertise and insights, this collaborative effort is helping overcome data management hurdles, ensuring more effective use of air quality information globally.
Project origin
The project emerged from a critical global need: effective air quality data management. Existing data management systems are falling short as monitoring efforts by governments, community-based organizations and other institutions are increasing.Proprietary or custom-built solutions can be costly, opaque, and inefficient, wasting resources and hindering action. This initiative directly addresses these pain points by offering a customizable open-source Data Management System (DMS), born from global feedback to meet expressed needs.
